Elaine is a psychologist with more than 30 years of experience in working with individuals, couples and groups. She received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Iowa State University and has worked in university counseling centers, a dual-diagnosis inpatient center, and in private practice. She has also been a faculty member in counseling psychology at Penn State University and the University of Baltimore. She works with young adults through advanced age. Elaine believes, fundamentally, that clients have the resources, sometimes awaiting discovery and development, to make their own best decisions and, with support, find their own solutions. Thus, she works with clients in a shared journey of discovery and action. She does both short-term, goal-oriented work with clients and longer term therapy to change entrenched patterns. She is available for weekend appointments. In a first session, you can expect to get to know each other and decide about whether her approach fits what you are looking for. She is certified in Gestalt Therapy and has extensive experience in group work using Gestalt and Psychodrama to discover and change relationship patterns learned in childhood. She has special interests in working with women’s concerns, codependency, and relationship difficulties.
