Dr. Uzoma Opaigbeogu is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Maryland and a National Certified Counselor. He has a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Doctor of Ministry with a specialization in Pastoral Counseling. Dr. Opaigbeogu works with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, stress, bipolar disorder, Post traumatic Stress Disorder, anger, insomnia, relationship conflicts, issues pertaining to spiritual conflicts, and substance abuse. He uses Person Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Brief Solution Focused Therapy to engage clients in session. Dr. Opaigbeogu’s background in Pastoral Counseling and as an ordained minister affords him a unique perspective to address the needs of clients who are struggling with spiritual crises over spiritual/religious matters with God/Higher Power, within one’s self, and with other people, or are trying to make sense of “where was God when I had to go through….” These conflicts often generate distressing emotions and questions about ones spiritual journey in life, and Dr. Opaigbeogu walks alongside clients to work through these emotions, to address any cognitive distortions that may have led to negative beliefs, and to reframe the client’s understanding and perception of his/her present circumstances to the opportunities and possibilities of the future. Dr. Opaigbeogu approaches counseling with a heart of compassion, empathy, grace, and unconditional positive regard. He has a keen interest in working with families and working with clients experiencing marital conflicts with the goal to restore healthy marriages and family relationships.
