I really can’t tell you all enough about what this program has done for me! I am almost scared to stop but it’s just because this has been such a safe and helpful place to share and learn and I never expected to get what I have out of a virtual session and group session. And then meeting the other patients and sharing experiences, thoughts, feelings, and advice is just truly rewarding. For some reason, I’ve been jaded that any kind of helpful counseling needs to be individual and in person. I’ve gotten more out of this than I did in over 13 months with another practice. I’ve taken extensive notes from our sessions and have been putting those into a word document so I can refer back to the different topics if I find myself struggling. I am soooo freakin’ grateful that Sheppard Pratt recommended you all and each of you has been amazing as counselors.

DBT

I am so grateful for the DBT program and individual counseling that your organization provides. My teen daughter was really struggling with depression and anxiety, leading to self-harm. The attention, information, skills, support and services she receives there has been incredible. After a few months, I’ve seen such a positive difference in her. She is more communicative, confident, willing to use and practice her coping skills…overall, she’s happier and healthier! She can identify when she needs extra help, and she reaches out now. The family DBT classes are also extremely helpful, for us as parents, to learn along side her, about what’s she’s going through and how we can best support her in parallel. I know this is a long journey, for all of us, but knowing we have all the support and services here, I am very hopeful for our future! Thank you for being there!

Teen Outpatient Substance Use Treatment

I just wanted to share with you some progress about our son that I think you would appreciate. Last week he went over to a friends’ house to sleep over. Both me and my wife suspect that this friend of his is sometimes a marijuana smoker and we told our son if you insist on going knowing that you could be subjected to such a situation you can understand our concern. Anyway , he assured us that his friend is aware of where our son stands on the matter and that he doesnt use it anymore and if he is to come over for a sleepover he can’t accept weed smoking or anything of that sort. Anyway , that night, and to our surprise, our son came back home at around 1:45 AM. When asked why, he said some other friend came to join the sleepover and had weed, and our son decided it’s not the best place for him, excused himself and left and drove back home. He realized this is not the right thing to do and he would not want to be around drug use.

We wanted to share with you this incident and let you know that we are very proud of him and his decisions, this is mainly due to your help and counselling as well as his dedication to avoid drug use. We felt we owe it to you to let you know how he managed the temptation and wanted to thank you so much for your help and council.
