Margaret is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist in the state of Maryland. Margaret earned a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Old Dominion University in Norfolk Virginia. She started her career working at a shelter program serving youth in crisis. Working with these youth and their families sparked Margaret’s passion in understanding the unique clinical needs of children and the need of many caregivers to get support in parenting. Margaret has continued to treat children, teens and their families in school and community mental health settings in Anne Arundel County. Margaret also has years of experience in treating adult clients. Many of her clients come from a trauma background and suffer from PTSD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, attachment problems and other disorders. Margaret meets needs of clients using a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Strength Based Therapy and others. Margaret is especially skilled in working with children and has used an Adlerian play therapy approach to treat children as young as 3 years old. Margaret believes that her job is to create a safe, welcoming and collaborative space for clients to explore their feelings and enact change in their lives. This client centered approach has enabled many of her clients to embrace the counseling relationship. Margaret has completed training and supervision in play therapy and is a Registered Play Therapist. She has also completed Level One training in the practice of Theraplay as well as extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Theory.
