Rod joined Congruent and Integrative Counseling in January 2014 as an Intern. His work with the helpful, diverse staff at Congruent/Integrative added immeasurably to his educational experience. He completed his MS in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University Maryland in 2016 and is now a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor.
Rod believes that we are all on our own path in life and that one person’s path is not necessarily the right path for the next person. His goal in counseling is to help his clients remove the roadblocks from their personal path. Rod believes in order for counseling to be successful, the counselor and the client need to have a good connection with each other, and he strives to begin forming that connection from the very first meeting with his clients. Rod prefers to use a person-centered approach to counseling but also naturally incorporates Adlerian techniques. However, regardless of Rod’s preference, he will use the technique he feels is best for the client.
Rod co-facilitates the Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and the Adult Outpatient Program (OP) in addition to working on the teen, young adult, and anger management teams in Columbia. He conducts intakes and assessments in Columbia for teens and adults for all levels of education, outpatient treatment, and DUI/DWI programs. Rod particularly enjoys working with the LGBTQ / GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning) population.
